LA Ink’s Dose of Laser Tattoo Removal

In control of the clicker, and revived up for a dose reality TV, I changed the station to LA Ink one of my favorite shows. I wasn’t tuned in long before this favorite turned to fizzle, and with my shock and disappointment.

In this episode Kat’s friend and fellow artist Pixie takes a trip to Dr. Tattoff for a consult on tattoo removal, something clearly she knows nothing about.

Seriously, how can a professional tattoo artist actually think a tattoo covering all the “prime real estate” of her shoulder and upper arm can be removed with one laser treatment?

As I watched the show, I know every ounce of Botox in my forehead released as wide-eyed and confused Pixie learned she’d need not one but at least 12 treatments over the course of 72 months to get rid of her unwanted real estate tenant.

In all reality, how can Pixie be so clueless about tattoo removal, especially laser removal with so many people wanting to know how to fade old ink for cover-ups? What tattoo artist has never discussed cover-ups or tattoo removal?

Thankfully, Kat came through up on the laser low-down, and actually surprised me (and I looked it too without my Botox) talking firsthand about her experience having laser removal treatments and how it hurts like crap. But Kat willing to put all the crap aside, planned to go with Pixie and get her own tattoo removed, her ex’s name on her neck.

For a few moments I was convinced LA Ink wasn’t a Reality show, but rather a comedy series with badly written scripts as a result of the writers strike.

As the episode continued Kat no shows on her good friend deciding her breakup was painful enough, without adding more self-inflected pain with a laser. And Ms. Pixie, obviously her judgment clouded by a surplus of Pixie Dust, insisted on having her tattoo treated without any numbing of the area, to experience how laser removal truly feels.

And the episode ends with Pixie stumbling out of the clinic, cradling her arm, mumbling something about being in shock. And I turned off the TV satisfied I’d seen a dose of real tattoo reality. Click here for more information on tattoo removal methods.
